God’s Timing Is Always Right

Late one afternoon at Baray Santuk Provincial Referral Hospital, the Medical Ministry International (MMI) team stood alongside local surgeons during a Cesarean delivery when the newborn was delivered blue, cold, and unresponsive. With no local neonatal team present, MMI staff immediately stepped in to help.

The baby had a strong heart rate but was not crying and was breathing only shallowly. By God’s grace, an MMI pediatrician was present and quickly began suctioning, warming, and stimulating the infant. With coordinated teamwork, gentle assisted breathing, and continued warming despite a malfunctioning infant warmer, the baby began to breathe more effectively and finally cried, bringing relief and thankful prayers from everyone in the room.

After further warming and monitoring, the baby’s condition continued to improve. Follow-up visits later that day and the following morning showed a healthy, warm infant breathing comfortably and learning to nurse. The mother expressed deep gratitude and welcomed prayer for her family.

 This moment also became a teaching opportunity for local staff, reinforcing the importance of newborn assessment and preparedness during Cesarean deliveries. Once again, God’s perfect timing placed the right people in the right place to bring life and hope.

Students in Perth County Share Compassion with Children

Students at a local school in Perth County recently took part in a meaningful project, creating 35 patient bags that will soon travel to Bolivia to support patients of the Vision Care team. While the bags are currently empty, they will be filled next month with items designed to help patients after their sight-restoring eye surgeries. Each patient will receive a handmade bag containing a pair of sunglasses to protect sensitive eyes, a pair of reading glasses, and the necessary postoperative eye drops. Some patients may also receive health education cards explaining their eye condition or offering preventive tips that can benefit both them and their families.

Although the students may not yet be ready to travel on international service projects, they discovered a way to make a personal impact from home. Their contributions demonstrate the compassion of Jesus, bringing a smile to someone they’ve never met and showing that even small acts of kindness can cross borders.

A special thank you goes to teacher Annette, who shared her passion and photos from a previous project so the students could gain a better understanding of the impact their patient bags will have. Annette will personally carry the bags to Bolivia when she returns with the Vision Care team in February.

Medical Ministry International Delivers Critical Medicines to Ukraine

Medical Ministry International (MMI), through its global partnership with international humanitarian organization MORKOD, and in collaboration with HPIC Canada, delivered critical medical supplies to Ukraine as part of the Pharma for Ukraine initiative.

In September 2025, MMI and its partners donated approximately forty types of essential medicines to support healthcare services in the Kyiv region. The shipment included antibiotics, hypertension medications, pain management drugs, antiallergic treatments, anesthetics, diabetic medications, medical supplies, and consumables. The donation weighed approximately 900 kilograms and was valued at $274,434 CAD.

Working in coordination with regional health authorities, the medical supplies were delivered to the Kyiv Regional Department of Health Care for distribution among local medical facilities. Through this effort, four medical institutions across the region received much-needed resources to continue patient care.

The donation supported an estimated 4,400 patients, including more than 3,000 adults and over 1,000 children, helping frontline healthcare providers maintain essential services amid ongoing challenges.

MMI is grateful for its global partnership with MORKOD, the collaboration of HPIC Canada, and the support of local health authorities whose cooperation ensured this aid reached communities most in need. This initiative reflects a shared commitment to restoring health, dignity, and hope through compassionate medical outreach.

MMI Mission in Cambodia: Healing, Hope, and Christ’s Love  

Medical Ministry International recently completed a transformative mission in Ratanakiri, Cambodia. Over several days, our team performed life changing surgeries including cleft lip and cleft oral commissure repairs, thyroidectomies, hernia repairs, gallstone procedures, and more  all safely and compassionately.

Beyond medical care, the team shared the love of Christ with patients, families, and local communities. Villagers joined worship led by Pastor Relilel and Neise Tsukru of Love the World Initiative, exemplifying the unity and joy of serving God together.

One team member reflected: “We were not just doing medical work; we were reflecting Christ’s love. Every smile and word of thanks was a testimony of His grace. Our diverse team worked in unity, building bridges even through challenges.”

After completing the Ratanakiri mission, the team traveled to Kompong Thom to continue serving with purpose, providing care and sharing hope in new communities.

This mission demonstrates MMI’s commitment: bringing light and healing to every corner of the world  one surgery, one smile, one soul at a time.

 MMI at the Global Missions Health Conference 2025: A Time of Fellowship, Connection, and New Opportunities  

From November 6–8, 2025, Medical Ministry International (MMI) joined the world’s largest gathering of healthcare professionals, mission organizations, and students at the Global Missions Health Conference (GMHC) in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. The event brought together thousands of people from around the globe who share a deep passion for serving God through healthcare a time of equal parts fellowship, networking, and spiritual renewal.

The MMI booth quickly became a meaningful meeting place, attracting past and current MMIers, global partners, medical directors, and many new faces eager to learn more about how MMI serves communities worldwide. The atmosphere was filled with genuine curiosity and shared purpose as participants stopped by to connect, share their experiences, and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

“We had a good number of people stop by the booth this year,” shared Dan Copeland, Global Partner. “A few came to promote their own ministries, but many showed interest in what MMI is doing around the world and are considering joining us somewhere. These were primarily students of medicine, pharmacy, and physiotherapy. About equal in number were those who have clinics or hospitals and would like MMI to consider bringing a team to their area many from southern Africa, and even one from Guatemala.”

Dan went on to describe an inspiring encounter with a gentleman from Guatemala who grew up on a coffee plantation. After coming to know the Lord, this man dedicated much of his family’s business profits to supporting a foundation that provides medical care for plantation workers. He has since invited MMI to bring a team to serve in his community a testament to how God opens doors in remarkable ways.

Augustine Arputhamani, MMI’s Chief Operating Officer, reflected on the event’s significance:
“The GMHC was truly inspiring, bringing together thousands of people from around the world who share a deep passion for global missions through healthcare. It was a joy to see such a diverse representation and to hear what God is doing across nations. Our booth became a space of heartfelt engagement, and it was encouraging to see the sovereignty of God at work and the small role we get to play in it.”

One of the most powerful takeaways from this year’s conference was the enthusiasm of the next generation. Many young people, particularly students in the medical and health sciences, expressed a desire to serve God through their professional skills.

“It’s clear that God is stirring the next generation into a movement to reach the unreached,” Augustine added. “That was both humbling and energizing.”

Beyond personal connections, MMI also established several new partnerships with like-minded ministries. These conversations opened up exciting possibilities for future projects, including potential expansion into at least three new countries in Asia and Africa God willing, in the near future.

As the MMI team has now returned home, hearts are full of gratitude for divine appointments, renewed partnerships, and the encouragement that comes from seeing the global body of Christ united in mission. The GMHC 2025 was more than a conference; it was a reminder that God continues to move mightily through healthcare missions, using ordinary people to bring extraordinary hope to those in need.

As Medical Ministry International continues to expand its reach and partnerships, the organization remains steadfast in its mission to provide healthcare for lasting change.

Faith in Action: A Story of God’s Faithfulness

Amy Harms’ life is a testimony to God’s faithfulness.
A wife, mother of three, doctor, writer, and devoted follower of Christ, Amy has experienced God’s guidance and provision in every season of her life. From her childhood in a Christian home to transformative experiences abroad and in medicine, her story reflects unwavering trust in God’s plan.

A life-changing journey
A study abroad experience in Kenya opened her eyes to the world and strengthened her dream of becoming a doctor. The path wasn’t easy months of waiting and rejections from medical schools tested her patience  yet God’s timing was perfect, and doors opened when she least expected.

God’s faithfulness in family and life
God also led her to her husband, Marty. What began as a friendship over several years became a marriage built on trust, faith, and shared purpose. Through health challenges, miscarriages, and major life transitions, God’s grace remained constant.

Serving through Medical Ministry International (MMI)
Serving on medical mission trips with MMI has been a tangible reminder of God’s calling in her life. Through Medical Ministry International, Amy has been able to use her skills to provide healthcare, bring hope, and share God’s love in communities around the world. These experiences continue to inspire her and deepen her trust in God’s plan.

A life transformed in Christ
Her baptism as a believer reflects an inward transformation and a life fully surrendered to Jesus. Today, she continues to trust God’s plan, knowing her identity is in Christ alone.

 "Celebrating Vision and Impact at AAO 2025"  

Attending the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) 2025 conference, held Oct. 18–20 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando Flordia, was an inspiring experience for Medical Ministry International. The event brought together ophthalmology professionals from around the world and served as a valuable opportunity to share the vision and impact of MMI’s ongoing work in eye health.

Several MMI participants visited the exhibit booth during the conference, reconnecting with team members and reflecting on their time serving through the ministry. Their joy and engagement highlighted the strong sense of purpose and community that continues to unite MMI participants long after their project experiences.

One unexpected moment that stood out was seeing a shoeshine couple playing Christian music, their Bible opened to Psalm 57. To many, it may have seemed like a small detail, but it felt like a confirmation that God was present, even amid a busy, secular conference.

Jyoti Kona, Chief Ministry Officer, and Caitlen Barron, Ministry Representative, engaged with many attendees who expressed genuine interest in joining future projects. Even brief interactions such as conversations while waiting in line for coffee sparked inspiring discussions about MMI’s mission to extend compassionate medical care to communities in need.

The conference also provided valuable opportunities to connect with key partners, including Alcon SEE International and ImprimisRx, whose continued collaboration strengthens MMI’s ability to deliver quality care and sustainable health programs worldwide.
 
Above all, the greatest highlight was sharing stories of what God continues to do through Medical Ministry International. That same joy was reflected in those who stopped by to celebrate the ministry’s lasting impact and the lives transformed through its service.

MEET THE TEAM

We’re thrilled to welcome Caitlen Barron to the Medical Ministry International team as our new U.S. Ministry Representative!

Originally from Mississippi, Caitlen grew up in a pastor’s home where she developed a deep love for God’s Word and missions from an early age. She holds a degree in Music Education and has used her musical gifts to worship and serve in ministry. After college, Caitlen spent seven years in sports ministry in the Toronto area, an experience that strengthened her passion for evangelism, discipleship, and equipping others to share the gospel.

In her role with MMI, Caitlen will steward partnerships with churches, medical schools, and institutions across the U.S., sharing the vision of MMI and inviting others to be part of God’s healing work around the world.

When asked what inspires her, Caitlen shared, “The Lord has given me a passion to encourage and equip others. I love helping to resource people and cheer them on as they go out to serve.”
Her life verse, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, reminds her that God’s grace is sufficient and His power is made perfect in weakness.

Caitlen says she’s most excited to join an upcoming project and meet those she’s been praying for. “MMI is more than a mission it’s a movement of compassion, healing, and hope,” she adds. “You don’t have to be a doctor to make a difference. Every heart and every helping hand matters.

Kaitlyn Cook’s First MMI Mission Experience: A Journey of Sight & Service

This summer Kaitlyn Cook embarked on her very first Medical Ministry International project in Peru. A fourth-year nursing student, Kaitlyn joined the ophthalmology unit where she assisted patients alongside MMI’s dedicated medical professionals.

Reflecting on her time in Peru, Kaitlyn described the mission as “an eye-opening experience.” She witnessed lives being transformed as patients suffering from cataracts and other vision challenges received care that restored or improved their sight. For many, this meant the ability to see clearly for the first time in years.

Beyond the medical impact, Kaitlyn emphasized the personal connections she built throughout the journey. She formed lasting friendships with both team members and those served in the community, noting how the spirit of compassion and service was evident in every interaction.

Kaitlyn also shared how the mission deepened her perspective on faith and service. “It wasn’t just about providing physical healing,” she reflected, “but also about showing Christ’s love in action.”

"With her first mission experience behind her, Kaitlyn is already looking forward to joining another MMI project in the near future. Her story is a powerful reminder that one person can make a difference.

"Smiles Restored in Bolivia: MMI Dental Team Brings Health Care for Lasting Change."

In April 2025, Medical Ministry International partnered with the Centro de Atención de Ancianos Vida Feliz (Senior Care Centre “Happy Life”) in El Torno, Bolivia, to host a two-week medical and dental clinic. The Centre, which provides daily meals, recreational activities, and a sense of community for more than 200 seniors, became the home base for MMI’s multidisciplinary medical brigade. Each morning began with worship and prayer, led by Katherine Miyagi project director in Bolivia, setting the tone for service grounded in faith and compassion. From the very first day, patients began arriving—many of them with urgent dental needs. This year marked a significant milestone: for the first time, the team offered dental prostheses (dentures) as part of the clinic.

“As a dentist, I was so excited to be able to help in this way,” shared one team member. “It was a privilege to see patients receive not only medical treatment but also hope and dignity through restored smiles.”
 
The dental team worked tirelessly—often late into the night—to complete 40 sets of dental prostheses for patients who otherwise would not have access to this type of care. These restorations were truly life-changing, improving patients’ ability to eat, speak, and regain their confidence.

Local staff at the Senior Centre played an invaluable role, helping to identify seniors most in need of treatment and sharing their stories with the medical team. One 71-year-old patient explained:
“I lost my tooth years ago in a fall and never had the means to repair it. What Medical Ministry International is doing here is excellent. The staff are kind and very professional. I even received glasses at the Vision area. I am so grateful.”
 
The collaboration brought together an international team of physicians, pharmacists, dentists, and other specialists, including American and Bolivian colleagues working side by side. Despite language barriers, they bonded through “Spanglish,” teamwork, and a shared calling to serve. This year’s project also introduced social media outreach, with younger professionals rallying their peers to capture stories and even create content to celebrate the work being done.

At the heart of it all was Dr. Marianela Paredes, MMI’s lead dentist in Bolivia, whose leadership and dedication were instrumental in ensuring the project’s success.

“We felt an enormous amount of pride in seeing patients fully rehabilitated,” one dentist reflected. “To watch them smile again, speak more clearly, and enjoy food with confidence—it reminded us why we serve.”

"A Heart of Service: Lasting Impact: Celebrating Barbara Skinner"  

On Thursday, June 12th, 2025, Medical Ministry International (MMI) hosted a special retirement celebration for Barbara Skinner; multi-role servant leader, whose contributions have helped shape the very heart of MMI for many years.

Barbara’s journey with MMI began as a volunteer sorting glasses. Over the years, she faithfully stepped into roles including Participant, Board Member, Project Director, and Managing Director—first in Texas, then in Canada. She also served as Acting Executive Director during two maternity leaves before continuing her leadership as Managing Director and, most recently, as Vision Program Coordinator. Through each of these roles, Barbara has been a driving force in MMI’s vision projects and warehouse operations, always serving with humility, purpose, and grace.

Though she is retiring from her staff role, Barbara will continue volunteering—both on international projects and in the warehouse—demonstrating her ongoing commitment to the mission.

Hans Ostrem, CEO of MMI, shared remarks at the event, expressing heartfelt appreciation for Barbara’s leadership and service. He noted that her presence has been a steady and inspiring force across MMI programs, and that her unwavering commitment has been instrumental in growing and sustaining MMI’s impact over the years.

Among the evening’s most touching tributes was a reflection from Leanne Ferris, Barbara’s daughter, who shared how deeply intertwined her mother’s faith and work have been from the very beginning. Leanne recalled growing up attending MMI projects, experiencing firsthand her mother’s heart for missions and intentional leadership. She described Barbara as someone who not only taught her to love Jesus but also instilled in her the joy and responsibility of serving others from an early age.

Attendees also reflected on the qualities that have defined Barbara’s work over the years:
•  A functional, living faith expressed through consistent service
• A natural problem solver who leads with grace
• A persuasive motivator who helped grow the MMI community
•  A strength finder who guided others in their roles
• A humble and encouraging leader
• A fun-loving, reliable teammate and friend
• And above all, her love for Jesus
 
While the evening honored Barbara’s incredible legacy, it was also a moment to thank all those who make the mission of MMI possible. The dedication, time, and compassion of volunteers and team members are the backbone of everything we do—and this celebration was a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of faithful service

A Legacy of Faith and Miracle

🕊 A Miracle Named Maria: A Life Transformed Through Love and Service
In the summer of 1994, on the final day of a mission project in Azua, Dominican Republic, a divine encounter changed the course of one woman’s life—and deeply touched everyone involved. This is the story of Maria Mendez, a mother whose life was saved through the compassion of Medical Ministry International volunteers, and whose legacy continues to inspire.

A Chance Meeting That Became a Lifeline
Azua was not a place we planned to return to. Due to concerns for participant safety, our team was closing out its final project there. It was a quiet day—only a half-day clinic, with no surgeries scheduled. Visiting for the day were Dr. Suleman Sadiq, a heart surgeon from Kansas, and his wife, Grace, a nurse. They had recently agreed to serve as medical directors for our upcoming project in Las Matas de Farfán.
 
Then Maria walked into the clinic.
She was 40 years old, a mother of several children, married to an older man, and suffering from a serious heart condition. She needed a valve replacement surgery—something unavailable through the public health system. Her family had no means to afford private care.
Moved by her situation, Dr. Sadiq examined her and made a life-changing decision. He and Grace told Teo, one of our local leaders, that they would take Maria to Wichita, cover her travel costs, perform her surgery, and care for her in their home during recovery.
 
From Azua to Kansas—and Back
With Teo’s help, a visa was secured and travel arrangements made. In January 1995, Maria and Teo flew to the U.S., where the Sadiqs welcomed them with open arms. The Sadiqs called of Dr Teo and Frida often to update them with Maria’s situation, and Dr Saquid and his wife Grace always found the way to communicate with Maria spite the language barrier. Despite the language barrier, love and care spoke louder than words. Maria returned to the Dominican Republic in March, accompanying the Sadiqs on their next mission trip. Just three months later, her husband passed away. She became the sole provider for her children, but she carried on with grace.
Every year, Maria would visit the Sadiqs when they returned to Las Matas, bringing homemade treats and her ever-present smile. She remained a close friend and part of the MMI family for decades.

Even after Dr. Sadiq and his wife Grace retired from medical missions, they continued to support Maria by sending her heart medication—faithfully—until her very last day.
 
A Legacy of Faith and Miracles
On April 28, 2025—thirty years after her life-saving surgery—Maria Mendez passed away from heart failure at age 71.
Dr Teo and his wife, Dr Frida Luna were honored to speak at her memorial service, attended by her entire town. Two pastors, neighbors, church members, and her loving family gathered to celebrate her life. Her children, now professionals (including a physician), her grandchildren, her 99-year-old father, and her siblings—all stood as witnesses to a life transformed by faith, kindness, and the power of medical missions.
Maria was proof that miracles still happen. Her story is a beautiful reminder of what is possible when love, service, and hope come together.
Dr. Suleman Sadiq, who gave her a second chance at life, went on to serve as MMI’s medical director for many years before retiring with Grace. Their legacy, and Maria’s, continues to inspire the mission and heart of MMI today.

On Friday, May 9, 2025, Medical Ministry International (MMI) hosted its annual Gala event, bringing together supporters, partners, and community members for a powerful night of celebration and purpose.

The event highlighted the ongoing mission of MMI to provide spiritual and compassionate health care in areas of great need around the world. Guests were reminded of the life-changing impact made possible through collective support and prayer.

The MMI family expressed deep gratitude for the generosity and encouragement shown by those in attendance. The evening served as a reminder of the strength of the community that God has brought together through MMI. MMI leadership reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to following God’s call: “To serve Jesus Christ by providing spiritual and compassionate health care in this world of need.” The Gala was a meaningful step forward in MMI’s continued journey to bring hope and healing to those who need it most.

Back to School, Back to Giving

Happy September from all of us at Medical Ministry International!

As the fall season begins, many of us find ourselves returning to familiar or new routines—students head back to school, and life settles into its usual rhythm after the summer months. It’s a season of renewal and a perfect time to reflect on the impact we can have in the lives of others. At Medical Ministry International, we are constantly preparing for our Project Teams who are travelling to care for those in need. We’re reaching out to invite you to join us in continuing this vital mission of providing health care for lasting change.

Our teams of surgeons, doctors, nurses, and other experts don’t just bring their expertise and compassion when they travel; they bring hope in the form of essential medical supplies and equipment. These resources are crucial to the success of our projects. For example, earlier this year, we were able to provide $10,000 toward the shipping of a container filled with orthopedic equipment for our team in Peru, enabling them to deliver life-changing care to those they were serving. As you can imagine, the cost of shipping these supplies on a regular basis, along with covering the luggage costs for our Project Teams, is significant.

This fall, we ask for your support to help fund these expenses. Your donation will contribute to ensuring that our Project Teams have the tools they need to provide compassionate care to those in need around the world. God’s Faithfulness on the Amazon River

Juan Alan, our International Partners Director, and his wife, Leonor, were discussing next steps on their route in the Hospital Boat along the Amazon River. Juan Alan suggested, “Let’s go to the Yavary River, we haven’t been there in years!” They left the shore for the Yavary River, trusting the Lord that He would guide them.

They arrived in the first town, called Islandia. The people there were not expecting them, but they were happy that the Hospital Boat arrived. Juan Alan met with the local authorities there and they mapped out a good route for the Hospital Boat to travel on.

That evening, Juan Alan asked God, “Lord, why this detour?”. He remembered then that the Yavary River was where he did his first-ever Project with MMI in the Amazon. He looked for some photos from that Project Team in June 2011. He quickly realized that they were about to follow the exact same route on the exact same dates as his first Project in the Amazon. He reflected on how much God had blessed this ministry since that first project, 13 years ago that day. They went on to serve 1,407 patients on this Project.

Our 14th Annual Fundraising Golf Tournament

We had an amazing day at Piper's Heath Golf Club on July 29th at our Fundraising Golf Tournament! To all who supported this event by donating, participating in our raffle, sponsoring the event, and golfing... Thank you!

Thanks to your support at this year's golf tournament, we raised over $60,000 before expenses! Your generosity will help change lives around the world by increasing access to affordable, quality health care to our patients, their families and their communities. The funds from this year's tournament will go towards many initiatives in our ministry, including equipping our teams in Peru and Bolivia this year.

Healing & Reunion in Colombia

In Colombia, this elderly couple was completely blind due to cataracts. She was without sight for 3 years, and her husband for 5 years because they did not have access to the cataract surgery they needed. Due to the severity of their cataracts, they couldn’t care for themselves or even see each other.

When they heard Medical Ministry International was coming to Colombia and was able to perform cataract surgery, their three granddaughters eagerly brought them in hopes that they could receive the surgery they so desperately needed.

After their successful cataract surgeries, the man and wife were sat next to each other. The gauze was removed from their eyes, and as they opened their eyes they were greeted by each other's familiar face. For the first time in 5 years, the man and his wife were able to look each other in the eyes again! They were as happy to see each other as newlyweds. They could also see their smiling granddaughters, who brought them there! The granddaughters couldn't hold their tears back in this moment of reunion, celebration, and healing.

The Inauguration of Maü Pata,
our Hospital Boat

On Sunday, February 11th, the hospital boat was docked in Puerto Nariño, Colombia, where people gathered in a soccer stadium to celebrate the inauguration of Maü Pata. Local leaders, including: the mayor, the minister of health, a pastor and a priest were all present. Juan Alan, our International Partners Director, Jillian Neven, our Senior Accounting Manager, and Ryan Coffey, lead pastor at Lifehouse Church, spoke and praised God for His goodness and faithfulness. Everyone celebrated with cake and juice, and gave out balloons to the children. It was a huge success and we are excited to celebrate this great accomplishment! Praise God for all He has done. Enjoy some photos from the event in Colombia on Sunday!

Click the button below to meet Seth Ephraim Tetteh-Quaye, Country Director and Project Director for MMI Ghana. In this video, Seth introduces us to Belinda Donkor Odoom, who came to an MMI Ghana mobile clinic in Mamobi, Ghana. She walked to the project site where Medical Ministry International had a mobile clinic. Most people in this area of Ghana cannot afford medical treatment - even with health insurance - so they don't usually go to their local hospitals for help. Belinda came to the MMI Ghana medical clinic with a stomach ulcer and infections. She was pleasantly surprised by the help she received, and went home to invite her family to go for a medical screening.

A Story of Restoration in Cambodia

Sam*, a 50 year old woman from Cambodia, came to the Medical Ministry International surgical clinic in Banlung, Cambodia in May 2023. She was in pain, unable to eat well or fully digest. She had an intestinal obstruction that developed after she received a hernia surgery the previous December by a local doctor.

The doctors at the Medical Ministry International clinic were able to operate successfully and remove the obstruction in her intestines. They checked on her after her surgery, and, with the local partner-pastor in Banlung, prayed for her prior to her discharge from the hospital.

A week after her surgery, Sam* unfortunately developed a surgical site infection due to her depleted nutritional state that contributed significantly to poor healing. Her family brought her to the hospital, and two of our team members traveled from the Philippines to meet with Sam* and her family to assess her and assist in care.

At the hospital, the MMI doctors met and discussed with the attending physician about Sam's* health. Imaging and tests were done and they decided to manage her case conservatively with surgery as the last resort. Her nutritional status and imbalances were corrected, regular wound care was given, and they were able to provide the care that she needed.

By the grace of God, Sam* showed great improvement! Her wound healed, and about 10 days later, she was able to return home to her loving family, friends, and neighbors in her village. While we praise God that she has experienced healing physically, we also praise God that Sam* and her two children have decided to give their lives to Christ! Today, she continues to do well, eat well, recover, and she attends a local church with her children.
