Dr. Peter I. Carver
Senior Research Scientist
Areas of Research Interest
- Dendritic polymers - Polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimers and polyamidoamine-organosilicon (PAMAMOS) dendrimers; Hyperbranched organosilicon polymers, hyperbranched perfluoro polymers and hyperbranched polyureas prepared via bimolecular non-linear polymerization (BMNLP); Use of these materials in elastomers or as nanostructured films or coatings for anti-biofouling, specialist printing applications
- Membranes for Liquid and Gas separation - Development of membranes for water and gas separation; Cross-flow membranes; Modification of membrane surfaces for antifouling properties
- Dr. Carver is involved in the development in a new high performance material for a major printing company. This material must be non-stick, possess high thermal stability as well as toughness. He has also been integrally involved in:
- The development of novel reverse osmosis membranes using hyperbranched polymer technology that exhibited very promising antibiofouling properties.
- Utilizing hyperbranched polymer technology to develop a new non-shrapnel-forming nonslip interior decking material for the US Navy.
- Developing specialized print media based on a hyperbranched polymer formulation. With continued development it is expected that the material will become a major competitor for the standard material used in industry.
- Developing scratch resistant coatings with low surface energy for good surface release properties.
